On the fortieth anniversary of the landmark decision by the United States Supreme Court legalizing a woman’s right to choose, we remember the hardworking pioneers who fought so valiantly for this fundamental right, and the brave doctors who lost their lives as a result of the religious fanaticism that so often runs rampant in this country.

Need to find the Christmas Spirit? This list may help.
I'm not really feeling the holiday spirit, so (in the interest of not appearing to be a TOTAL Grinch) please enjoy this list of some of my favourite Christmas songs....

The Hives & Cyndi Lauper - A Christmas Duel
The Waitresses - Christmas Wrapping
Liza Minnelli & Alan Cumming - Baby It's Cold Outside
RuPaul, Michelle Visage, and Barbara Mitchell - Hard Candy Christmas
The Cast of Spongebob Squarepants - Don't Be a Jerk, It's Christmas
.... and the quintessential RuPaul Holiday Special

Donna Summer - Rest In Peace
Disco legend, and one of our favourite "Bad Girls," Donna Summer died early this morning following a long battle with breast cancer. The world of pop music owes an incredible debt to Ms. Summer, whose joyful, lively tunes will continue to live on in playlists maintained by countless disc jockeys and diehards the world over.
Somewhere (most likely in the dark), MacArthur Park is melting.... and no one will be able to warn us of the danger of leaving cake out in the rain. Never will we have that recipe, again...
Donna Summer, Rest in Peace. The world will forever remember those all-night dance marathons, and how hard you worked for that money. You will be missed.

Dear Mr. President.
Dear Mr. President,
I want to thank you from the bottom of my oft-jaded and cynical heart. I want to thank you for standing up for the millions of marginalized citizens of the United States. I want to thank you for being bold. I want to thank you for recognizing what so many of us have always held to be true. I want to thank you for taking such a powerful step in the fight for equality. I want to thank you for not caving to pressure from hate-filled extremists. I want to thank you for defending my rights. I want to thank you for making me proud to have always been an actively political Democrat. I want to thank you for strengthening my resolve. I want to thank you for providing this shining light. I want to thank you for helping it to “get better.” And, lastly, I want to thank you for giving me yet another reason to vote for you in November.
Thank you. Thank you so much.
Signed,
A Proud (and Vocal) Gay American.

Maurice Sendak - Rest In Peace.
Maurice Sendak, celebrated author and creator of one of the 20th century's most beloved "children's" books, died in his Danbury, Connecticut home this morning.
Words cannot express the great sense of loss felt by those of us at SpastikFantastik blog, nor the great sense of gratitude owed to Mr. Sendak for all he's given to the world. To the man who helped shape our childhoods, and taught us our "Roar" was within us all along - Maurice Sendak, Rest in Peace. You will be missed.
